Mike Hamrick - Pastor

Mike grew up in Florida.  He graduated from Liberty University with a major in Pastoral Ministries and double minors in Greek and Theology.  He earned his Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.  He later completed his Doctor of Ministry degree from Luther Rice Seminary in Atlanta.  Brother Mike served at West Side Baptist Church in Ft. Worth while in Seminary and then served at First Baptist Church of Bellevue Kentucky and Millville Baptist Church in Woodford County Kentucky before coming to Sand Spring in 1996.  Mike and Diana were married in 1984 and have two children - Michael and Kristen. 

Ben Cook - Youth Minister

Ben came to Sand Spring in August of 2024.  He served formerly as Youth and Associate Pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church in Blacksburg, South Carolina.  Ben is a student at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and expects to graduate in May of 2026.  Ben is a native of South Carolina.  He is married to Allison and they have 3 children - James, Emilia, and Harrison.

Dr. Jamie Killion - Minister of Music

Jamie grew up in Missouri and graduated from Southwest Baptist University with a major in Music Education, Voice and French Horn.  He received his Masters of Church Music at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas and his DMA from the University of Oklahoma. He served in several churches as a worship minister as well as a professor in music at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, California Baptist University and Campbellsville University. He is married to the talented Kelly Killion and has two children Kristin and Jordan and four grandchildren Drake, Duke, Dale and Dene.


Donna Short - Church Secretary

Donna and her husband Chris are faithful members of Sand Spring.  Donna is a native of Nelson County.  She has 2 adult daughters - Stephanie Proctor and Allison Hyatt.  She and Chris have 8 grandchildren.  In September of 2021, Donna accepted the position of part-time secretary at Sand Spring.   A few months later, in August of 2022, Donna became the full-time secretary at Sand Spring. 

Diana Hamrick - Director of Education

       Diana is a native of Frankfort, Kentucky.  She graduated from Campbellsville University with a double major in Psychology and Sociology.  Diana received her Master of Arts degree in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.  She served on the staff of several churches in Kentucky and Texas before coming to Sand Spring as Director of Education and Children in June 0f 2003.  In May of 2011 her job was split to allow the hiring of Dana Thompson as Director of Children. 

Children's Ministry Assistants

Stephanie Proctor is a native of Lawrenceburg, Ky. and the daughter of our secretary. Stephanie not only works as a homeschool mom, but also works as the Family Outreach Director at Orphan Care Alliance where her husband Bryan serves as the Executive Director. She has three boys, Cameron, Isaiah, and Bryce. Stephanie not only leads our AWANA program but serves as our Snack Supper Coordinator and directs our Summer Children’s Discipleship Program as well as other children’s activities. She and Bryan work countless hours keeping all these programs running!


Kelli Edwards is a native of Lexington, Ky. She graduated from Centre College in Danville with a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science degree from Eastern Kentucky University.  She is currently a homeschool mom of two active boys, Will and Reid.  Besides being busy with her boys' active schedules of homeschool co-ops, church activities, and sports practices and games, she is passionate about teaching children of the Lord's love for them and enjoys serving in jail ministry through The Auxiliary of the Gideon's International. She is married to Darren and works with our Sunday morning children’s program, children’s church, Kids Beach Club, and other children’s activities.


Cindy Gray is from Pineville, Ky. She graduated with an education degree from Eastern Kentucky University. She has been a teacher and a homeschool mom as well, along with helping her husband run their family farm in Harrodsburg. She is married to Tim and has one son, Timothy.  Cindy has worked as volunteer in our church for many years and now works on our ministry staff as a Children’s Ministry Assistant in charge of our Wednesday night children’s programs, our Vacation Bible School, and various other children’s activities.


Sherry Noon - Preschool Director

Sherry became Director of our Preschool in March of 2025.  She grew up in Corydon, Indiana and worked with her parents in their family Pharmacy.  Sherry graduated from Georgetown College with a Bachelors degree in History and a Masters degree in Education.  She has 3 children - EJ, Marc, and Molly.  Sherry says "I am so excited to teach children about Jesus and direct them to have a personal relationship with Him." 

Bettye Hanks - Director of Senior Adults

Bettye grew up in Louisville.  She attended the University of Kentucky where she received her BS in Pharmacy in 1982.  She has been a practicing Pharmacist in central Kentucky for many years.  Bettye has been a loyal member of Sand Spring for over 25 years.  She and her husband Dudley have 4 children and 7 very active grandchildren, keeping them very busy!  Before taking this position, Bettye helped facilitate many Bible studies and organized the homebound ministry at Sand Spring. 


Chris Thompson - Treasurer

Chris is a native of Nelson County, Kentucky.  He earned his Bachelor's of Business Administration from Bellarmine University.  He is also a Certified Church Administrator.  Chris became our church treasurer in May 2006.  He serves as branch manager of Wesbanco Bank in Frankfort. 

Tina Tucker - Preschool Assistant

Tina has served in our preschool since 2016 and worked in this area several years before coming onto our staff.  Her job includes not only working in the nursery but recruiting workers and cleaning the nursery as well. She grew up in Anderson County and graduated from Anderson County High School. Tina works for Kentucky Medicaid and she has one son, Jordan.  She absolutely loves children!
